Improving the Input Match of Low Noise Amplifiers

Dale D. Henkes

This article describes the mathematical basis for tradeoffs among noise figure, gain and return loss of an LNA, with implementation in an EDA design tool

This article appeared in the February 2007 issue of High Frequency Electronics magazine. The author describes how you can take advantage of the bilateral property of a transistor to transfer some of the input mismatch in an LNA design to the output. The process is simplified using the author's software (commercial product).
